On a forum I read about a way to test your sensor for dust on your dSLR cameras using a 50mm or below lens. I decided to try it out and it worked out pretty well. Since this camera is fairly new and I do clean it and am a maniac when it comes to changing lenes in safe enviroments, its clean. Just like two specks of dust, but I haven’t even tested if that was from the lens. Anyway, test out your dSLR by viewing the instructions at the forums or here.

The ‘blank paper’ test you tried out works fine with any lens, but you’re right that the smaller the focal length, the easier it will be to see the dust. Just make sure to push your f-stop as high as you can get it. Remember that you’ll need a lot of light in order to expose your shot with the aperture that small.
Once you’ve detected dust on your sensor, you’ll have to determine how you’re going to fix the problem so you can keep on shooting. I have a few steps that are already posted here:

Thanks for sharing this detection step, when you don’t know what those little dots are, it can be a big pain
